• Always use plastic or concrete spacers (bolsters) to ensure the steel sits in the center or top third of the slab.

• Provide a minimum overlap of 400mm (two mesh squares) when joining adjacent sheets to maintain structural continuity.

• Store the reinforcing mats off the ground on timber bearers to prevent excessive mud contamination or deep pitting corrosion.

• Ensure all rust is light surface oxidation; discard any material showing significant section loss due to scaling.
