Powermax 45A Cooker Unit
The Powermax Black Cooker Unit integrates high-capacity power control with a standard auxiliary outlet for modern kitchen environments. This 45A double-pole switch manages heavy-duty appliances like electric ovens and hobs safely. The assembly includes an independent 13A switched socket for auxiliary kitchen equipment. This configuration optimizes space by providing two distinct power functions on a single double-gang plate. The matt black surface treatment ensures a resilient finish that resists common kitchen contaminants and smudging.
Engineers specify this unit for projects requiring both high-amperage isolation and standard plug access. The double-pole switching mechanism provides enhanced safety by isolating both the live and neutral conductors simultaneously. This feature is critical during maintenance or in the event of a fault. The unit utilizes high-grade urea substrates to maintain structural integrity under thermal stress.
Key Features
-
High-Amperage Isolation
The primary 45A double-pole switch manages high-wattage loads without excessive heat generation. -
Integrated Auxiliary Outlet
A secondary 13A switched socket provides power for low-load peripherals on the same mounting plate. -
Standard Compliance
- Manufactured to meet BS 4177 safety requirements.
- Internal shutters prevent accidental contact with energized socket components.
- Neon indicators provide immediate visual confirmation of circuit status for both outlets.
-
Robust Terminal Design
Large-bore brass terminals support 10mm² or 16mm² conductors for high-integrity electrical connections.
The terminal block design facilitates efficient heat dissipation during peak current draw. This prevents thermal degradation of the wire insulation over time. The switch action provides a positive tactile response. This ensures the user knows when the circuit is fully engaged. Silver-alloy contacts reduce contact resistance significantly. Consequently, the unit maintains high conductivity throughout its operational lifespan. The double-gang format provides sufficient space for internal cable routing. This reduces the risk of conductor pinching during final assembly.
The mounting plate dimensions conform to standard double-gang specifications. This allows for straightforward integration into existing electrical infrastructure. A minimum back box depth of 47mm is necessary to accommodate the internal switch mechanisms. The package includes matching fixing screws with black heads to maintain a uniform appearance.

This black matt finish is very smart. It matches my kitchen tiles perfectly. Having the extra 13A socket next to the cooker switch is very helpful for the blender or kettle without needing another wall point. Very happy with the purchase.

Solid build. Doesn’t feel like those cheap plastic ones you find in downtown shops. The matt black finish is clean and doesn’t show scratches easily.

Installed this during my kitchen renovation in Ruiru. The 45A double pole is heavy duty enough for the large electric oven I bought. The finish gives the kitchen a very modern look compared to the standard white switches. My fundi also noted the terminals are well-spaced for thick cables. It’s working perfectly so far.

Good quality for the price. It looks very high-end once fitted on the wall. Delivery to Nakuru was also quite fast and the item arrived in good condition.

The unit itself is very good and heavy duty, but I struggled a bit with the fitting because my backbox was a bit deep and the provided screws were short for my specific wall. I had to source longer screws separately. Otherwise, the switch performance is 5-star quality.

Powermax products are always reliable. Replaced my old burnt cooker switch with this one. Very sturdy and the extra socket is a great bonus for the microwave.
