Powermax BSR Gold Single Socket
The Powermax BSR Gold Socket provides a reliable 13-amp power interface for commercial and residential electrical systems. This single-gang unit features a switched interface to control power flow at the point of use. Engineers specify this component for its strict adherence to BS 1363 safety protocols. The gold finish provides a distinct aesthetic for high-end commercial fit-outs while maintaining industrial-grade durability. It handles a nominal current of 13A at 250V AC across standard ring main or radial circuit configurations.
Key Features
-
Standard Compliance
The assembly meets all British Standard BS 1363 requirements for 13-amp plug-and-socket outlets. -
Switching Mechanism
The integrated rocker switch utilizes a single-pole configuration with a positive snap action to prevent electrical arcing. -
Terminal Architecture
- Captive screws prevent component loss during high-volume installations.
- Terminal capacity supports up to three 2.5mm² conductors or two 4.0mm² cables.
- Large, embossed markings on the rear housing facilitate rapid wire identification.
-
Safety Systems
Internal safety shutters block access to live terminals until the earth pin of a plug is fully inserted. -
Material Integrity
- The faceplate uses high-impact polycarbonate with a tarnish-resistant gold coating.
- Internal contacts consist of high-conductivity copper alloys to minimize thermal buildup.
- The unit operates reliably within a temperature range of -5°C to +40°C.

I bought several of these for a house renovation project in Ruiru. The gold finish is very classy and doesn’t look cheap like some other brands I’ve seen in the local shops. The switching mechanism feels solid and isn’t stiff at all. Good value for money if you want that premium look in your sitting room without spending a fortune.

Installed these in our new office space. They look much better than the standard white sockets and match our interior decor perfectly. The 13A rating handles our heavy-duty printers without any issues. Delivery to Westlands was very fast.

The socket itself is excellent and looks very high-end on the wall. However, the screws provided were a bit short for my deep mounting boxes so my fundi had to use different ones. Otherwise, it’s a great buy and works perfectly.
